A SYSTEM FOR COMPUTER-AIDED SELECTION AND ASSIGNMENT OF ELECTRONIC MODULES,

Abstract

Describes the implementation of the Component Division and Placement Module of a Design Automation System. The module accepts as input the equivalent of a logic diagram with designer specification of a class of possible logic devices to which each logic element on the diagram belongs. One must also specify the physical characteristics of the electronic devices, the number and type of each device, and the packaging system to be used. The devices on the logic diagram are then assigned to the physical hardware available. Additional designer specifications such as 'logical grouping' have been implemented, and the characterization of board assignment has been generalized. (Author)
