AUTOMATIC INFORMATIVE ABSTRACTING AND EXTRACTING.

Abstract

This investigation is concerned with the development of automatic abstracting and extracting systems. Basic investigations in English morphology, phonetics, and syntax are pursued as necessary means to this end. The fourth annual report on automatic abstracting and extracting summarizes progress in two areas of investigation: (1) Compilation of a 'sentence dictionary' to be used in automatic extracting. (2) Compilation of a 'word government dictionary' of English words and their associated government patterns.
