THE STABILITY OF THE AMPHIBIOUS CRAFT LVTP-X12 IN WAVES AND SURF,

Abstract

The lateral mass and damping coefficients for the amphibious vehicle are determined experimentally. The values are examined for their dependency on speed, water depth, and bottom slope. Wave forces acting on the fixed model are also measured experimentally in both deep water and shoal water with sloped bottom. The linearized equations of motion are solved for the calm water case and for several particular cases in waves. (Author)
