DISPERSION OF FLEXURAL WAVES IN CIRCULAR, BI-MATERIAL CYLINDERS,

Abstract

The frequency equation for flexural waves traveling in an infinitely long, bi-material, circular cylinder is obtained, using an extension of the Pochhammer-Chree theory for homogeneous rods. Several lowest branches of the frequency equation are presented and discussed for various ratios of the constituent cylinder radii. Experimental data are furnished and the range of applicability and accuracy of the theory are discussed. (Author)
