ROCKET MEASUREMENTS OF ATMOSPHERIC OZONE,
Abstract
The rocket-borne ozonesonde, which has been developed by the Atmospheric Sciences Laboratory, White Sands Missile Range, New Mexico, and utilizes the chemiluminescent principle for ozone detection, has been flown at Fort Greely, Alaska (64N) and White Sands Missile Range, New Mexico (32N) during different times in 1967. The data gathered from these soundings are presented. The ozone concentration found in the lower stratosphere agrees with data from balloon soundings, while in the upper stratosphere it is found to be five times greater than measured by spectrometric methods.
