CONVERSION OF MICROSECOND INTERVALS OF TIME TO DIGITAL CODE,

Abstract

The authors discuss converters designed for measuring the time interval (transit time) between some 'zero' time determined by the starting signal and the time when the detector records a particle. Accuracy in the measurement of such time intervals is analyzed with respect to factors which may cause nonlinearity in the converter. Converter characteristics are discussed and a block diagram of a converter is given. A brief description is given of a converter consisting of three functional circuits: phasing pulse generator, channel pulse shaper and converter. The various components which make up these sections are described and their important parameters are given.
