THEORETICAL CALCULATION OF CERTAIN QUANTITIES, INFLUENCING THE TRANSMISSION OF SPATIAL CHARACTERISTICS OF THE APPARENT SOURCE OF SOUND,

Abstract

The method considered permits determining, as the direct and reflected energy are changed, the acoustic ratio and time shifts between signals for each microphone and the whole stereophonic system, depending upon the position of the sources and receivers relative to one another and relative to the reflecting surfaces of the primary location and also depending upon the acoustic properties of the room. These dependences determine the perception of the spatial sound pattern during stereophonic transmissions. (Author)
