ON LIMITING DISTRIBUTIONS FOR SUMS OF A RANDOM NUMBER OF INDEPENDENT RANDOM VARIABLES.

Abstract

The main result of the paper is a generalization of a theorem by Mogyorodi (Publ. Math. Inst. Hungar. Acad. Sci. 6, 365-371). This generalization of Mogyorodi's theorem is applied to give simpler proofs, under less restrictive conditions, of some recent results of A. Albert (Ann. Math. Statist. 37, 1602-1630) and M. S. Srivastava (unpublished) connected with the asymptotic distribution of a sequential estimator for the regression coefficients in ANOVA and MANOVA.
