A COMPUTER PROGRAM FOR THE NUMERICAL SOLUTION OF HYPERBOLIC PARTIAL DIFFERENTIAL EQUATIONS BY THE METHOD OF CHARACTERISTICS,

Abstract

A computer program is presented for solving a system of two quasilinear partial hyperbolic differential equations in two independent and two dependent variables by the method of characteristics. There is a discussion of the characteristic equations and the compatibility relations. The second order finite difference approximations to these are given along with a method to solve the difference equations. (Author)
