DYNAMICS OF RECTANGULAR PLATES,

Abstract

The dynamic response of a simply supported rectangular plate is treated within the framework of classical, three-dimensional elasticity theory. The plate is subjected to a suddenly applied, uniformly distributed transverse load over a rectangular area, the sides of which are parallel and perpendicular to the sides of the plate. An exact solution in series form is given, and a comparison of this solution with previously obtained corresponding solutions within the framework of classical and improved plate theories is also presented.
