GEOMETRIC STATION AND TRAJECTORY ESTIMATION: ANALYSIS AND PROGRAM DESCRIPTION.

Abstract

The report presents analysis and describes a computer program to estimate station positions, points on a satellite trajectory, measuring equipment error models, and their 1-sigma uncertainties. Estimation is by the minimum variance technique. Simultaneous observations of topocentric right ascension, declination, and range are acceptable input. A technique is also presented for using the program in an error analysis mode to obtain an estimate to the 1-sigma parameter uncertainties which will accrue from a given geometric measurement configuration--without the use of actual observations.
