AUTOMATIC ADJUSTMENT AND CONTROL (CHAPTERS 5-8),

Abstract

Chapter five deals with the statistics of random processes, scattering, continuous random values, and error estimates in random process. The basic formulas of statistical inference are presented and several examples are given. Chapter six pertains to feedback loops for reduction of error, static and astatic errors and systems, periodic and aperiodic error, and combined feedback control links. There is an extensive development of the mathematical foundation of control circuits. Chapter seven deals with the same phenomena when they are applied to nonlinear systems; relay control systems, stability through harmonic linearization, inherent nonlinearity, and logic devices applied to feedback. The mathematical treatment is quite rigorous. Chapter eight is a verbal discription of optimal, self-tuning, and self-organizing systems within the context of chapters six and seven. There is little mathematical treatment of the subject matter.
