AN ANALYTICAL MODEL FOR BLAST SHELTER DEPLOYMENT,

Abstract

The principal aim of this paper is to present a methodology for two-sided optimization using Lagrange multipliers for the attacker and defender. This technique has been applied to the problem of determining optimal deployment of blast shelters. The study on which this paper is based actually employed a general computer model which performed the two-sided minimization and maximization by scanning exhaustively the full arrays of alternatives. The present paper describes a simple model which is a reasonably faithful representation of the general model and which is analytically solvable. (Author)
