STUDY OF THE DECAY 'NEUTRAL-K2 TO 2 NEUTRAL-PIONS'.

Abstract

The ratio between the two decay rates, Gamma(neutral-K2 to 2 neutral-pions)/Gamma(neutral-K1 to 2 neutral-pions), was studied by comparing the 2 neutral-pions decays in the neutral-K2 beam to those in the regenerated neutral-K1 beam. The advantage of this method is that the result is insensitive to detection efficiency. No free decays neutral-K2 to 2 neutral-pions were observed above the 3 neutral-pion background. On the other hand, 2 neutral-pions decays of neutral-K1 produced in the tungsten regenerator were clearly observed. The comparison of the free decay data with the regeneration data leads to the upper limit of 0.000009 for this ratio. (Author)
