USING THE READILY AVAILABLE ALGEBRAIC LANGUAGE AS A COMPILER ENVIRONMENT

Abstract

The use of algebraic command languages for things other than preparing numerical algorithms has become somewhat popular, in particular for writing compilers. This technique will be found particularly useful by organizations not in the business of building commercial compilers, but interested in the implementation of a small special-purpose language, such as a query language for a model of a command system. The purpose of this paper is to describe this technique to such an audience and to comment on the extent of its applicability.
