FOCK SELF-CONSISTENT FIELD IN THE TWO-CONFIGURATION APPROXIMATION FOR THE FIRST EXCITED CONFIGURATION OF BORON (SAMOSOGLASOVANNOE POLE FOKA V DVUKHKONFIGURATSIONNOM PRIBLIZHENII DLYA PERVOI VOZBUZHDENNOI KONFIGURATSI ATOMA BORA),

Abstract

The Fock equation is solved for the 3s radial orbital of the configuration 1s(2)2s(2)3s of boron, while the other orbitals practically coincide with the corresponding orbitals of the positive ion of boron. The total energy value in the two-configuration approximation 1s(2)2s(2)3s-1s(2)2p(2)3s is determined and compared with the experimental value. It is pointed out that the two-configuration approximation in the case in question is not the same as in the case of the ground configuration of the same atom. (Author)
