FORMULATION OF APPROXIMATE RADIAL ORBITALS (K VOPROSU O POSTROENII PRIBLIZHENNYKH RADIALNYKH VOLNOVYKH FUNKSTII),

Abstract

The formulation of approximate radial orbitals for outer electron shells is refined by replacing the constant scale factor by a corresponding linear function of the distance from the nucleus. Calculations are made for the ground configuration of doubly ionized carbon and calcium. The resulting orbitals are compared with solutions to the Fock equations of the self-consistent field.
