MICRO VOIDS INFLUENCE METAL PROPERTIES,

Abstract

Voids were found to form around hard particles during the deformation of both thoria dispersed nichrome (TDNiC) and a martensitic stainless steel, AFC 77. In the TDNiC the voids retard recrystallization and thereby increase high temperature strength. In AFC 77 the voids prevent austenite grain growth. (Author)
