ACOUSTIC SCALING BETWEEN MODEL COLD FLOW AND HOT FLOW JETS.

Abstract

The report presents acoustic far field data on a simple conical jet. The temperature of the jet flow is varied from ambient to 2600F in a range of Mach numbers from 0.4 to 2.0. The data are evaluated with the purpose of obtaining parameters for acoustic scaling between hot and cold flow model jets. The analysis is divided into three main phases which consider the following aspects of scaling: (1) Scaling between hot and cold jet noise spectra, (2) Total acoustic power scaling between hot and cold flow jets, and (3) The directivity of noise emission of hot and cold jets.
