THE AIRCRAFT INTEGRATED DATA SYSTEM, ACIDS.

Abstract

The report constitutes a systems engineering study for the design of a system which can, by means of a tape recording of the history of performance and condition of respective dynamic components, make deterministic predictions of the operational life of the components so measured and provide a capability for detection and diagnosis of malfunctions. In addition, the system will provide data for prediction of on-condition removal, for fleet analysis, for determination of usage rates, and data which should be used as the predicate for the prediction of future parts and spares requirements. The study includes consideration of the parameters to be monitored, the hardware concept to implement the system, the mathematical models for data analysis, the software requirements, and the management aspects. The primary finding made is that the proposed system (ACIDS) for the UH-1D is feasible, practical, and economical. (Author)
