THE EASTERN ARCTIC ICE SEASONAL OUTLOOK.

Abstract

The seasonal ice outlook presents a written and graphic description of ice conditions expected during forthcoming operations of the Military Sea Transportation Service (MSTS) in the eastern Arctic. Prognostic monthly ice charts with envelopes showing the expected range of sea ice from mid-May through mid-August are presented. Forecast trends for ports of major interest in MSTS resupply operations are given. The new World Meteorological Organization (WMO) ice terminology and symbols are used throughout the Outlook.
