ANALYTICAL INVESTIGATION OF THE INFLUENCE OF VARIABILITY OF THERMO-PHYSICAL PROPERTIES OF LIQUID WITH TURBULENT NONISOTHERMAL MOTION IN TUBES (ANALITICHESKOE ISSLEDOVANIE VLIYANIYA PEREMENNOSTI TEPLOFIZICHESKIKH SVOISTV ZHIDKOSTI PRI TURBULENTNOM NEIZOTERMIZESKOM DVIZHENII V TRUBAKII),

Abstract

Semi-empirical methods are given for incorporating variable thermophysical properties in nonisothermal turbulent flows of various fluids. Derived expressions are applied to a number of flow situations. These include: heat transfer and skin friction for air at Pr approx. = 0.7; liquids such as oils under cooling and heating heat transfer; skin friction of liquids; and, finally, to conditions of near critical heat transfer conditions. All the results correlate well with experiments performed in tubes with the various fluids mentioned above. (Author)
