OPTICAL MEMORY UNIT (OPTICHESKOE ZAPOMINAYUSHCHEE USTROISTVO),
Abstract
The report describes an optical memory unit consisting of controlled light sources, a write information register, a photodisk, and light sensors. The coherent monochromatic light sources are placed in front of the photodisk and are coupled to the register containing the information to be stored. The coherent reference source is placed in front of an etched glass while the light sensors are located at the focal points of the system behind the photodisk. The advantages of this memory are its reliability and the increased write information density permitted by superimposing the stored information.
