SHIP WAVES AT RECREATIONAL BEACHES,

Abstract

The report data provide some measure of the heights of waves resulting from the passage of typical ships moving at various speeds near sloping shorelines. The magnitude of such waves when ships travel at relatively high speeds obviously may create hazardous conditions to unobserving users of the shoreline. Floating equipment and docks along a shoreline also are subject to damage. (Author)
