AN ANGULAR POSITION SERVO FOR LARGE MOMENTS OF INERTIA,

Abstract

Graphs and equations are derived to help the designer in the selection and use of an electric servomotor for positioning a large pure rotational inertia when the amplitude, bandwidth, and accuracy of the motion are specified. The motor forms part of the loop of a type I servo. The factors that make up the velocity constant Kv and the torque constant KT are obtained; and a method for stabilizing the closed loop is given. The saturation response to a large step-function command is derived, and a dual gain mode of operation for minimizing the saturation overshoot is described. (Author)
