CHARGE-CONTROLLED STORAGE DISPLAY PANELS.

Abstract

Four 12-inch-square, 50-line/inch image storage panels were fabricated. Measurements were made on these panels to determine their transfer characteristics at various applied voltages and frequencies. The time dependence of brightness after excitation to several different initial brightness levels was measured on each panel. Impedances and phase angle of the panels were also measured with the panels operated at various applied voltages and frequencies, for both the erased and saturated conditions. The electrical admittance characteristic of another (6-inch-square) panel was measured as a function of brightness level. More measurements were made on 6-inch image panels fabricated earlier in the program. The integrated exposure required to excite a panel was investigated over a range of five orders of magnitude of input level and exposure time. Humidity effects on panels made with three different EL phosphors were also studied. (Author)
