ANALYSIS AND MEASUREMENT OF A CIRCULAR TRANSMISSION LINE ANTENNA.

Abstract

Experimental data and results of mathematical analysis are presented for determining the characteristics of an electrically short, circular transmission line (ring) antenna. Bandwidth-efficiency product is used as a figure of merit for comparison of the ring antenna with other types of antennas and examples of the bandwidth-efficiency product of a monopole, disk top-loaded monopole, umbrella top-loaded monopole and transmission line top-loaded monopole are given. The ring antenna is shown to have the same performance as a straight, quarter-wavelength long, shunt-driven, transmission line with a shorted termination. (Author)
