A USERS MANUAL FOR A COMPUTER PROGRAM TO REDUCE SPECTROGRAPHIC DATA FROM A ROTATIONALLY SYMMETRIC PLASMA.

Abstract

A computer program for the reduction of monochrometer data from a circular cylindrical plasma column is described in detail. A manual for use of the FORTRAN IV programs is provided along with detailed specifications and listings of the programs. The Abel inversion problem is handled by fitting experimental emission and absorption data to a Jacobi polynomial and inverting the polynomial. The programs presented were used in the reduction of optically thick sources with a typical calculation time of one second when 50 input data points are used and 20 output data points are calculated on an IBM 7094.
