Abstract

The author reviews the rapid growth of knowledge and use of superconductors especially in the fields of nuclear reaction, space research, radio electronics and computer technology. The possible use of a superconductor system to provide protection of space ships and crews against cosmic radiation is suggested. Major attention is devoted to the future possibilities of using superconductors in power engineering in connection with magnetohydrodynamic generator systems. (Author)
