VERTICAL AND STATIC DISTRIBUTION OF IXODID TICKS IN KIRGIZIA,

Abstract

The study of distribution of ixodid ticks along the vertical belts is continuing at the present time. It is believed that if the distribution of a species covers all the basic natural complexes of Transcaucasia (western, eastern, and southern), then the upper boundary of its distribution in this or in other regions is inversely proportional to humidity and quantity of precipitation and directly proportional to the altitude of the snow line during the summer period. The general laws of distribution of ixodid ticks was determined in accordance with the zonal types of vegetation. According to the data, with the change of zonal vegetation from tundra to desert edge, the species (and generic) composition of ticks increases. (Author)
