ACTION OF BLOOD OF BLUNT-NOSED VIPER (VIPERA LEBETINA L.) ON TICKS OF THE GENUS ORNITHODORUS,

Abstract

When feeding ticks Ornithodorus papillipes Bir. and O. moubata Murr. on the snakes Vipera lebetina L. it turned out that the blood of three snakes of nine experimental ones was toxic for the ticks that perished after blood sucking. When infecting experimental snakes with spirochaetae which are transmitted by the ticks O. verrucosus Ol., Sas., Fen., and O. papillipes Bir., negative results were obtained. (Author)
