THE PRESENCE OF ARGAS PERSICUS OKEN, 1818 IN CHAPCHAR, SINKIANG,

Abstract

In July 1955 the author found a total of 122 specimens of Argas sp. after checking the nests of chicken and pigeons in the houses of some of his cousin's friends. Most of the ticks hid in the crevices of mud walls of chicken's nests. Some of them were fully engorged and at the stage of moulting. Observation carried out for three successive generations revealed no sign of pathologic phenomena. Recently the author checked the morphological characters of the specimens in detail and came to the conclusion that the above mentioned species belonged to Argas persicus Oken, 1818 of the Genus Argas.
