AN ANNOTATED BIBLIOGRAPHY OF DYNAMIC CLOUD MODELING,

Abstract

The document contains a selective bibliography, with informative abstracts of papers related to the numerical simulation of cloud dynamics, including significant works from the Russian and Chinese. Some representative works have been included that model clouds as idealized bubbles or plumes. However, the emphasis is on models involving the solution of hydrodynamic and thermodynamic equations by numerical methods using a digital computer. Cloud microphysics, laboratory studies of convection, and field observations are in general excluded. Several works are listed primarily for their historical interest, including those that introduce the basic thermodynamic equations of water in clouds, the term 'pseudo-adiabatic,' the parcel and slice methods of analysis, and the concept of entrainment.
