DESIGNING MAGNETIC ELEMENTS AND DEVICES OF ELECTRONIC COMPUTERS,

Abstract

A 262 page book devoted to the problem of systematizing informational material on the design and calculating of magnetic elements used in computers. The entire presentation is made on the basis of the contemporary concept of ferromagnetism. Examples are given of the calculation of separate elements and devices. Descriptive material is reduced to a minimum. Considerable attention is alloted to the characteristics of ferromagnetic materials and recommendation for their selection are given. Questions are considered in detail concerning the work of a core with a rectangular loop of hysteresis under different conditions. Analysis and method of designing ferrite-diode and ferrite-transistor elements which have enjoyed the greatest propagation in specialized devices for processing digital information. Magnetic elements of industrial manufacture are described. In the last chapter the author gives a method of designing magnetic storage units in cores with a rectangular loop of hysteresis, and separate questions are considered of the reliability of memory units on these elements.
