GENERALIZED MECHANICS OF CONTINUOUS MEDIA.

Abstract

A continuum-mechanical theory is presented in which the deformation is described by the usual displacement field and a number of other vector fields (director). It is motivated, as to detail, by a particle model and the steps leading from this model to a continuum are carefully traced. (Author)
