APPARATUS FOR AEROMAGNETIC SURVEYING MANUFACTURED BY PRAKLA FIRM (APPARATURA DLYA AEROMAGNITNOI SEMKI FIRMY 'PRAKLA').

Abstract

The apparatus for aeromagnetic measurement has the following advantages in comparison with instruments of classical ground based magnetometry. Measurements are performed extremely rapidly (with good weather conditions, an area on the order of 15,000km2 can be surveyed in one month). The cost of aerial surveying is one-third that of ground based measurements. Immediate machine data processing in the Prakla computer center makes it possible to produce final results immediately. A performance of surveying does not depend on the accessibility of the territory to be surveyed (the navigational installation included with the apparatus operates over deserts, forests, jungles and oceans). So called 'interferring' bodies--lower quaternary pebble volcanic clastic rock--have no influence on measurement results. (Author)
