BASIC PARAMETERS FOR FILMS AND IMAGE INTENSIFIER-FILM COMBINATIONS AND PERFORMANCE COMPARISON.

Abstract

Some photographic emulsion densities (D) for Kodak Tri-X Pan and Kodak Royal-X Pan for Kodak developers D-19, DK-50 and HC-110, developing times 5, 8, 12 and 20 minutes and color temperatures 6100K, 2850K and 2040K were determined. From this the photographic conversion yield nF (average number of grains per total number of quanta incident to the emulsion) as a function of D was calculated. Pertinent equations for determining the most optimistic conditions for recording with film directly or with an image intensifier ahead of the film are derived. The intensifier is superior for equal signal-to-noise ratios. (Author)
