PENETRATION AND INTERACTION OF A TRANSVERSE JET AND A SUPERSONIC STREAM.

Abstract

The interaction of a transverse jet injected into supersonic main stream is examined. The jet trajectory and the shape of the jet cross section are defined. The characteristics of the bow shock wave produced by the jet in the main stream are calculated. The value of the stand-off distance between the shock wave and the jet and the means to correlate the shock wave and the jet shape are obtained. Finally, the force induced by the jet on the wall from which it issues is calculated. (Author)
