THE CHARACTER OF METEORITE BREAK-UP,

Abstract

Observations of meteors have been conducted at Dushanbe and at Odessa, employing instantaneous photography. The purpose of these observations is to study the processes of meteorite evaporation, luminescence and break-up (fragmentation). So far, instantaneous photographs of 89 meteors have been obtained. Some of them have been analysed and the results published. Here we are presenting our results on two meteorites that broke up into a number of fragments. (Author)
