EXPERIMENTAL INVESTIGATION OF THE FERMI SURFACES OF METALS.

Abstract

The work performed was aimed at understanding the dynamics of electron motion in metals and, as a corollary to this, understanding the Fermi surface and electronic band structure of metals. The work to be described in this report falls under three general categories. The first of these is the study of magnetic breakdown effects in metals; the second is the study of the Fermi surface and electronic band structure of magnesium, zinc and cadmium; the third is the study of the Fermi surface and electronic band structure of ferromagnetic nickel.
