DEVELOPMENT OF ELECTROPHORETIC PROCESS FOR COATING T-53 AIR DIFFUSER, EXHAUST DIFFUSER, AND COMBUSTION CHAMBER HOUSING WITH 'SERMETEL (R) W.'

Abstract

Techniques were developed for electrophoretic deposition of SERMETEL W (reg. trademark) coating on the internal and external surfaces of the combustion chamber housing, air diffuser, and exhaust diffuser of the T-53 engine. There were some small areas that were found to be extremely difficult to coat due to difficulty in placing electrodes in hidden passageways. However, it is believed that the majority, if not all, of the critical surfaces were coated.
