ASYNCHROUS SEQUENTIAL MACHINE WITH A PREDETERMINED DEGREE OF RELIABILITY,

Abstract

The author describes the synthesis of an asynchronous sequential relaying circuit with its predetermined reliability. The relaying circuit is assumed to have n relays in both the controlling and controlled circuits separated by distance D. The n-D relays at corresponding positions in both the controlling and controlled circuits are in the same operating state and the D relays in different operating states. The operating state of both the controlling and controlled circuits is deviated if one of the n-D relays is in poor condition, while that of either the controlling or the controlled circuit is affected by one of the D relays in poor condition. Analysis shows that the asynchronous sequential relaying circuit can still operate normally with deviated states by using error-correcting codes in state assignment.
