EMERGENCY OPERATIONS SYMPOSIUM (2ND), SEPTEMBER 7-8 1967.

Abstract

In keeping with the 1967 theme 'Improving Emergency Operations through Coordination, Control, Research, and Planning,' the two-day conference was organized into four pannels, each devoted to one major theme: (1) organization and operations; (2) problems and issues in selected emergency operations-issues and accomplishments; (3) applications and research; and (4) planning for emergency operations. Formal papers were presented by organizations concerned with preparations for disaster and civil defense. The problem of growing urban tensions and civil disorder was discussed. It was hoped that the conference should assist, through the sharing of ideas and perspectives, the enhancement of recovery ability, the institution of more effective measures of control, and the prevention of disaster by improved planning.
