ON THE MOTION OF THE FRONT OF THE LATERAL RAREFACTION WAVE IN A POINT-INITIATED CYLINDER OF HIGH EXPLOSIVE,

Abstract

A numerical scheme is devised for calculating the motion of the lateral rarefaction front in the product gas of a detonating cylinder of high explosive. The scheme is applied to the rarefaction front in a two-inch diameter cylinder of pentolite explosive. The flow in the product gas is assumed to be the spherical Taylor wave. The calculations are carried out to the point where the detonation has propagated 21-charge diameters from the initiation point. (Author)
