RESIDUE EXPANSIONS FOR CERTAIN GREEN'S FUNCTIONS AND RESOLVENT KERNELS.

Abstract

The report is concerned with the expansion of an arbitrary function in terms of the generalized eigenfunctions defined by d/dx p(x) d/dx psi(x, lamba) + q(x)psi - lambda r(x)psi=0, 0<x<1; subject to the boundary conditions psi sub x (0, lambda) + beta sub zero psi(0, lambda) = alpha sub zero lambda psi(0, lambda), psi sub x(1, lambda) + beta sub one psi(1, lambda) = alpha sub one lambda psi(1, lambda). The expansions stem from the Poincare-Birkhoff formula. (Author)
