MOVING BOUNDARY CONDITIONS IN AN ELASTIC MEDIUM,

Abstract

The well known acoustic boundary value problem is extended to include situations where the boundary translates at constant velocity. Solution of the wave equation, in three dimensions, for a disturbance in a homogeneous, linear, irrotational elastic medium has been effected in the presence of a translating boundary. A study was made of the effect of this motion on the normal modes and standing wave patterns of the system. (Author)
