PHYSICAL, CHEMICAL AND CURRENT MEASUREMENT DATA LUSIAD EXPEDITION, 15 MAY 1962-15 AUGUST 1963.

Abstract

The scientific programs (of the LUSIAD expedition) extended over a wide range of interests. The field work was planned to be consistent with broad outlines of cooperative international exploration of the Indian Ocean. Measurements included carbon dioxide sampling in the atmosphere and near-surface water throughout the cruise, bathythermograph observations, gravimetry, magnetometry, collection of large samples of water for radioisotope analysis, extensive current measurements (in the Indian Ocean), plankton sampling, seismic refraction, coring, heatflow, and bottom photography, as well as the physical and chemical data from the hydrographic casts reported here.
