SOME PROPERTIES OF HELICAL ANTENNAS AT LOW FREQUENCIES.

Abstract

Experimental examination and results of self-resonant helical antennas in the frequency range between 25 kc and several Mc/sec are described. The dimensions of these antennas are several orders of magnitude smaller than the wavelength in the surrounding medium. The influences of two different media surrounding the antenna, namely air and water, on the input impedance and resonant frequency of the antennas are described. The electrical properties of water were studied separately. It is shown how to obtain the quantities of a network model for describing such antennas, from the measured data. (Author)
