SOME THOUGHTS ON MACHINE INDEXING

Abstract

A general discussion is presented on the feasibility, advantages, and disadvantages of automatic indexing. Experiences with three different kinds of machine-aided indexing tasks are described: a dissemination problem, mental health records, and patent examination.
