WOOD QUALITY OF LOBLOLLY PINE AFTER THINNING.

Abstract

Compares loblolly pine wood produced 4 years after heavy thinning and pruning of 9-year-old stands with wood of unthinned stands of the same age. A three-fold increase in radial growth was found to be accompanied by a significant increase in specific gravity and percentage of latewood in response to heavy thinning and pruning. (Author)
